To the Parents of 8th-Grade Students:

One of the most fun traditions for graduating 8th-graders at Oak Hill is the Tile Project, in which each 8th-grader paints and decorates a ceramic tile.  You can see the tiles of past 8th-graders lining the halls of the school, a personalized memento from each student which adds a lot of color and fun to the hallways.

The Oak Hill PTO provides the tiles, the paint and other materials needed for the Tile Project.

Team 8-1 students will decorate their tiles on:

  • Monday, June 8, 10:36-11:26 am
  • Wednesday, June 10, 10:36-11:26 am
Team 8-2 students will decorate their tiles on:
  • Thursday, June 11, 10:36-11:26 am
  • Friday, June 12, 10:36-11:26 am
We'd like to have at least two parents on hand in each of the Team  homerooms (there are four homerooms on each team) to help the students with their tiles.  You don't need to bring anything or be especially artistic -- just help the teacher with making sure the students have what they need and keep things organized.

Please sign up for one of these times by emailing Chris (chill@aol.com).

Newton South High School will hold a Sports Night for incoming freshman student athletes who are interested in playing sports, for any of the three seasons, on Monday, May 18, at 7 pm in the Field House.  This is an important meeting for students and parents of students who want to play sports next year at Newton South.

In order to help make this occasion a success, we need 8th-grade parents to coordinate some very simple tasks: setting up and decorating the gym for the ceremony, and coordinating the refreshments for after the ceremony.  Click here to read more.
